Hi all,

I'm a Brighton based cyclist conducting research into helmet use.

Does anyone disagree with wearing helmets?
Does wearing a helmet change your behaviour on the bike?

Would be interested in any views and opinions on the subject! Thanks!

The Beautiful Swarovski Perfume Aura Spring 2011 saw the production of the Swarovski perfume Aura that had been long anticipated by many perfume fans throughout the world. Its theme is that it is the presentation of crystal transmuting into a luminous and energetic perfume. It is a floral perfume with strong notes of fruit that is said to generate vibrancy for anyone who wears this scent, and it is also a fragrance that delivers a glow as a result of energy of light.
The composition of Aura perfume was developed by the perfumer Olivier Crep of Firmenich. He cleverly utilised lychee fruit notes and fused these with note of roses. The centre note belongs to tuberose which exudes femininity and allure. The bottom note consists of amber and musk, laced with benzoin. In the entirety, Aura is really a beautiful scent that won't only look wonderful on your dresser but it really will also make heads turn when you enter a room.
If one looks up the word ur ?other synonyms are nvisible breath or adiation? so its name is in keeping with the ethos of the Swarovski crystal brand name and jewellery line.
In the middle of the Swarovski Aura perfume is a unique crystalline strength that features notes of amber, musk and white benzoehar. Swarovski say it is this fusion of notes that creates an emanation from the scent that's similar to intense rays of sunshine.
If you are a fan of the beautiful Swarovski jewellery line then you'll definitely love this perfume as well as its packaging which is presented superbly. Some reviewers have likened the Aura perfume to the Givenchy fragrance named Ange ou Demon Le Secret. The scent is usually long-lasting so there is no need for reapplication on a regular basis throughout the day.
The top note of Swarovski uk Aura perfume is certainly fruity and considered to be pink lychees. This leads to a distinctive and intense note that also features white tuberose and pink peppercorns. For fans of the jewellery, the bottle is created consistent with this and the top of the flacon contains gorgeous Swarovski stones which give a wonderful sense of luxury and glamour.
The bottle also opens in a very unique way to other flacons which simply contributes to its sophistication and it's also certainly a scent that should stand hands and shoulders above others on the world perfume stage in 2011.
The Swarovski uk online perfume Aura can be found in various sizes starting at 15ml up to a 50ml bottle. The purchase price ranges from about 25-65 for the different volumes and it's also to be found in other styles such a deodorant and a luxurious body lotion. Why not treat yourself or a loved one to the beautiful new Swarovski perfume Aura. For all your perfume and designer fragrance purchases, at the best prices, visit http://www.swarovskiukonline.com/

Is there an existing group somewhere or is anyone out there interested in joining me, I go most saturdays anyway...

Thanks

So, doe anyone here wear a helmet/handlebar cam for the commute? The BBC recently covered this - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12334486 where a van driver was prosecuted for bad driving by a cyclist wearing a helmet-cam.
I'm thinking about grabbing one off eBay, although, I have been considering doing it for a while and more just for funsies than 'capturing evil motorists'!

Hello fellow cyclers !!

I did the Friday Night Night to the Coast last year, which is organised by The Martlets Hospice in Brighton and can't wait for the 2nd September to come around again!

This year's bike ride starts at midnight (from London Victoria), and you will arrive in Brighton in time for breakfast on the seafront - I can tell you it was the best and most deserved breakfast I had ever had!!! The scenery along the way was beautiful, and I will never forget that moment when dawn broke and the sun started to rise over the hills..what an adrenaline rush!

Entry is £15 by the way (they do ask you to raise money for the hospice) and includes a t-shirt, medal as well as coffee and cake halfway. And do wear a helmet!

You can enter online at http://www.themartlets.org.uk .

Let me know if anyone else is doing this!! :-)

See you en route x

Additional notes
Shimano 105 is light, and the new 10 speed has stepped it up a level of competitiveness, completely reliable and looks great. A great bike for starting out on, great for up to cycle club racing or triathlon. Its very light and just rolls really smoothly and seemingly effortlessly! I rode it up several famous Tour de France and Tour de Italy climbs, blitzed past most riders, and prefered it to my top level professional full carbon, sram red component equiped racer (which I have left in NZ).

Only selling due to the fact I am heading back home to New Zealand.

Recommendation
All in all a solid, reliable ride ideal for anyone looking to get into training and/or club racing.

Hi all,

I've been contacted by a researcher from the University of Greenwich who is looking for volunteers to take part in a study on VO2 Max in cycling.

More details and contact info below.

The commitment: it will run for each participant over the duration of max 2 weeks to avoid training effects. The number of test days equals 7. A minimum of 24 hours are required in between each test day. An additional day is required for familiarization (please see under ‘Extra’)

The duration of each test:
Test I = up to 1 hour (including setting up of gas analyser, test rack, etc)
Test II = 3 ‘mini’ tests spread over three individual days performed indoor
Test III = 3 ‘mini’ tests spread over three individual days performed outdoor

When: I will make every attempt to fit the testing around the availability of each participant. This includes weekends and evenings. It is possible to test more than one participant at a time for test II and test III.

Location: Test I and test II can be performed at any indoor location. I can come to your home to perform these tests but participants are also welcome to perform these tests at my place in Brighton. Test III will be performed at the Preston Park Velodrome in Brighton.

Familiarisation: All participants will be asked to ride as fast as possible for the durations of 3min, 7min and 12min to familiarise themselves with the actual tests using the Velodrome or using the road. Participants who have never used the Velodrome will be asked to run a test trial to familiarise themselves with this particular track. The Preston Park Velodrome is very wide with non-acute curve angles and consequently easy to ride. Running a test trial/familiarization trial will support valid and reliable results.

Weather: Any outdoor tests will be cancelled in case of bad weather conditions.

Protocol: Participants are required to complete one VO2peak test, three time to exhaustion tests using a Turbo Trainer (with 30 minutes rest in between) and further three time to exhaustion tests using the Preston Park Velodrome (also with 30 minutes in between single tests)

What is in it for the participants: VO2max evaluation and Critical Power value with feedback of training status. The value of these tests under non-research condition is around £300.

PM me for contact details. Can we PM on this forum?..

Lets start a thread where we can all list our favourite Cake Stops in Sussex.

I keep getting drawn back to the same place but there must be other little gems that I'm missing out on.

hello. new user here. have been commuting by mountain bike in brighton for 6 odd years, but just bought my first road bike, a cannondale caad 8 on the "ride to work" and having the "for once i was blind.." moment. my girlfriend already calls it my mistress. did a 30 mile trip round the downs on saturday ending up the beacon and am now officially a convert.

but anyway, does anybody know the legal standing if i'm in a collision with a car and the car is damaged and i am legally at fault? how does the car get repaired when i obviously have no insurance? i was driven into on the seven dials roundabout 2 weeks ago and even though i indicated right and went round in the correct lane, a lady pull out anyway and knocked me into the roundabout, but it was at night and i had no front light, so think i was legally at fault (car bike and rider all now healed, but just got me thinking of legal standings).

Hi everyone, I'm the new guy!

I started out mountain biking about 15 years ago now but haven't really done much riding for the last 3 or 4 years and am getting back into it.
My current 'main' bike is a '06 Kona Kikapu whick is pretty much stock apart from the brakes. I'm also currently building a commuter from my old (around '95) Specialized Rockhopper frame and am off to pick up a parts-donor bike at the weekend.
I enjoy a mix of XC, singletrack, DH and, well, just messing about on bikes in general really!

Anyway, I think that will do for an intro before I start boring you all to tears!

Hi everyone,

Last year a few of us rode the Brighton Marathon course early in the morning, before the race began.

It's a nice little ride - very pleasant cycling through Brighton with the roads closed!

This years marathon is fast approaching. It starts 9:00 AM 10 April - that's a Sunday.

It involves an early morning, because we need to get well clear before any runners make a start.

Who fancies it?
